BMW News

No matter what you think about the BMW brand or its vehicles, you've got to admit that it's got the greatest slogan of any car company, ever. "The Ultimate Driving Machine" is one of those timeless phrases that ad execs dream about and companies pay millions to come up with.
According to The New York Times, the best-selling luxury brand in the U.S. will again be embracing the phrase, formerly just its tagline, but now BMW's slogan. (What's the difference? We'll have to ask Don Draper and get back to you.) More importantly, the German automaker has ditched its "Joy" campaign, that touchy-feely series of ads that downplayed the brand's enthusiast appeal in favor of lots of smiling, happy people. According to the report, BMW will be introducing 14 models in 2012, its biggest-ever product rollout, hence the need to launch a new series of ads with an overarching theme. Not that "Joy" didn't work, but we're much happier seeing BMW's sliding sideways on a track than people jumping into their cars.
The first ad, from the company's new agency, Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal & Partners, debuted during the NFL playoffs this past weekend, and featured a rather clever voiceover saying, "We don't make sports cars. We don't make SUV's. We don't make hybrids, and we don't make luxury sedans," then paying it off with, "We only make one thing: The ultimate driving machine." BMW Air Intakes

BMW 6 Series

2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe - First Look. Whether the Gran Coupe was in the original plans or something conjured up to compete against the CLS, we might never know. At the end of the day, all that matters is that the 6 Series sedan looks nothing like a marketing afterthought. In fact, the 6 Series looks like it was meant to be a 4-door.  Thanks to a 4.4-in. gain in overall length from the coupe version (wheelbase is increased by 4.5 in.), the stretched roofline accommodating a B-pillar and an extra set of doors flows, giving the sedan a proportional look. An added benefit from the growth is the extra room in the rear passenger area. Seating for the Gran Coupe is listed by BMW as 4+1 seating, meaning two full-sized adults and a child (at best) would fit aft of the driver. Having to straddle the center hump isn’t ideal but at least it’s a passenger volume improvement over the 6 Series Coupe’s 2+2 seating.
The new 6 Series with its sleek long profile, sloping front end and pouty derriere is beautiful. There isn’t a bit of its design I would change. How could you improve upon it? Introduce the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe. Give it to the Bavarians to top themselves. A technological highlight for the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is the optional Adaptive LED Headlights first introduced on the 6 Series Coupe. The trademark BMW twin halo or ring lights in the headlight housing now implement the use of LEDs and the low and high beams are LEDs as well. The bright white light swivels based on steering angle, yaw rate and the car’s speed.  Adaptive Xenon headlights come standard.
Other technologies available in the Gran Coupe are ConnectedDrive, rear-view camera, Surround View, Parking Assistant, BMW Night Vision with pedestrian recognition, Lane Departure Warning System and Active Blind Spot Detection, color head-up display, Bang & Olufsen audio system and BMW’s infamous iDrive.
